💥 Pangaea X, what is it?
Pangaea X is an educational and environmental program that aims to support and encourage young people to carry out projects that have a positive impact on the planet. Through annual challenges on different environmental themes, Mike Horn challenges young people to find solutions as a team to contribute to the world of tomorrow. With the support of coaches and experts, 10 teams are selected to join the Pangaea X program, which takes place online and face-to-face (in Switzerland) for 5 months. As a reward, the explorer will take the team that passes the 3 selection phases on an expedition.
The first edition of this programme (the 2022 edition) is only open to French speakers living in Europe. From next year (2023), Mike Horn and the Pangaea X team plan to open the call for applications internationally and in English.

🌊 Pangaea X, the 2022 edition
For this first edition, the adventurer focused on his main playground: the ocean. As part of the challenge, French speakers aged 16 to 25 living in Europe were invited to propose ideas for economically viable solutions to protect the oceans. Launched on 9 January 2022, the call for entries was made via the pangaeax.org website until 6 March 2022. Then, from the 125 teams that applied, the jury had the task of selecting the 10 teams on the basis of the following criteria: innovation, relevance, feasibility, impact and creativity. On 22 March 2022, the results were made public.
From 8 April, the 10 teams will have 5 months to go through the different selection phases in order to reach the grand final on 17 September 2022. During the course of the programme, the selected teams will be invited 3 times to join Mike Horn and the Pangaea X team in Switzerland for workshops where they will be accompanied by coaches and can benefit from innovation sessions given by experts. The program is fully funded by Pangaea X.

MIKE HORN
Who is Mike Horn and how did he came up with the idea to launch Pangaea X?
Mike Horn is a Swiss and South African explorer with numerous records. From swimming down the Amazon, to circling the globe along the equator, to conquering the world's highest peaks, the adventurer has completed an unprecedented series of expeditions over the past 25 years. Recently, Mike Horn and the Norwegian explorer Børge Ousland skied across the Arctic Ocean via the North Pole. A world first that was not easy. It was during this journey that Mike Horn came up with the Pangaea X program. The shocking observation of the thickness of the ice pack called him to action! On his return, he consulted his team and together they decided to launch a concrete program to raise awareness and support young people in carrying out projects with a positive impact on our planet.
💭 The Pangaea expedition, an inspiration
In 2008, Mike began his Pangaea expedition for which he and his team launched the Young Explorers Program (YEP). During this four-year journey around the globe, more than 100 young explorers were selected to join Mike on his yacht Pangaea to explore the world and implement various social and environmental projects, under the motto "Explore - Learn - Act".

After more than 4 months of hard work, we have been selected among the 5 finalist teams of the Pangaea X program!
Next step: We are preparing to go to Switzerland 🇨🇭 early July, for a seminar where we will focus on the next steps of our project. We will continue to work hard until September 16, the day we will meet the whole Pangaea X team at STATION F, the biggest startup campus in the world, in Paris for the award ceremony 🏆.
